How to Setup and Optimize Native Ad Campaigns on Revcontent

This will be PART #3 of the tutorial. In this section we will outline the process for optimizing your campaign.

You will need to create three separate campaigns to optimize as this happens in three phases.

Phase #1 - Run of Network or 'RON' Campaign. This will be our primary campaign where we test all widgets and categories. We will be blacklisting widgets and turning off categories that are not profiting.

Phase # 2
- Proven Creative Campaign. This will be your second campaign. In this campaign you will carry over your blacklist from your first campaign and ONLY the creatives you are happy with. This will allow you to focus more on widget performance with creatives that are proven to have a good CTR and conversion rate for your offer.

Phase # 3 - Whitelist Campaign. This will be your finalized aka 'Dialed' in campaign that carries your top performing widgets and categories. For an effective Whitelist campaign, you will need around 400-500 proven widgets.

All three campaigns will remain active as you farm the network for winning widgets and proven creatives.

Blacklisting - Blacklisting is what you do in your original RON (Run Of Network) campaign. This campaign is where you test creatives and figure out where there opportunities lie (Phase #1)

Whitelisting - Whitelisting requires a lot of data to work, but you can start them from the beginning. They are the opposite of a blacklisting so instead of excluding widgets, they target them only. Like I mentioned above, you won't have much traffic or luck with a Phase #3 campaign until you farm the network for winning widgets and categories

PROTIPS: The follow are important tips to keep in mind as you are testing the Revcontent network.

The network is built for competition:
High CTR ".15" for CPA campaigns will beat out higher bids. Your CTR is pretty accurate after about 50k impressions.
If you experience a drop in volume, a competitor has probably zeroed in on your bids or has generated a higher CTR.

Revcontent algorithm will serve the creative showing the most potential in your campaign and will be placed at the top of your list. The Algorithm is designed to automatically split test your creatives.

Scaling your campaign is 100% about Patience: Each new country will need an RON blacklist for you to collect data with, and in some cases so will devices. With Blacklist Data, you can optimize and with optimizations you can target proven widgets and categories to maximize your ROI. Collecting data with an RON blacklist gives you a specialized/specific map of the network which is an incredibly valuable asset for future campaigns in the same niche. More conversions will come after optimizing.

Test all categories thoroughly: In the beginning, we need data *a lot of data in order to understand which parts of the network work will be profitable. I know it’s tempting to toggle categories off but if you’re unsure about one, lower the CPC bid. You never know where your conversions are going to be until you test. Try to run at least 5 tests before turning channels off. Each channel could represent thousands of widgets and new widgets are added each day. Some categories might only have 1 or 2 widgets that are profitable but these could be significant ROI. If you turn off a category, you could be missing out on a honeypot. Again, if a channel is spending too quickly in testing, just lower the CPC to control it. You will still get SOME data and it won’t kill your budget.

Next, enter the Widget ID that you wish to add and click the '+Widget ID's' button. You can enter multiple ID's at the same time by separating them with a comma. SSS3.PNG

How to Turn Off Categories and Change Bids

This section will show you how to turn off categories that are not converting/performing as well as lower bids for specific categories so you don't kill your budget on ones that are less lucrative.

STEP 1
From your campaign content screen, click the 'Targeting' tab at the top of the page. SSS1.PNG

STEP 2
Find the category that you wish to change your bid. Click the current bid and you will be able to edit the value. Click the 'Green Check Mark' to save your changes. SSS4.PNG

STEP 3
To turn off a category, go to the far right side of the page and toggle the switch to the 'Off Position'. Again, you NEVER want to do this until you have done extensive testing and are convinced that this category is not suitable for your campaign. SSS5.PNG
