I may
be overthinking this, but people are much more likely to research products these days and go to a product via somebody else's review page after arriving on your paid promotion age.

What do you think about putting your affiliate code in an
iframe?

I know this is controversial and somebody went to jail for defrauding
ebay, but if you are dropping your cookie on people who have landed on your offer through you genuinely promoting it, it seems justifiable to me.

I believe you are referring to "cookie stuffing" which will likely get you banned on most affiliate networks especially Ebay.
